Department of Geography
Department of Geography is situated in the picturesque surroundings on the Campus of RPS Degree College offers programs leading to M.Sc. It is one of the prestigious departments of College started in 2012 at undergraduate level, subsequently elated to post graduate level in 2013. Department of Geography is fortunate to be equipped with highly competent and efficient faculty members whose work is nationally and internationally recognized. At the same time, they are actively involved in various administrative bodies of RPS Group of Institutions and contribute towards the running of the home institution.
The department has a well equipped Cartography and GIS Laboratory. Our cartography lab is equipped with a LCD Projector with instrument like Stereoscopes, rain gauge, Thermometers, Hygrometers, Wind vane, with a handsome collection of physical and political maps, 3-D models, varied rocks sample set, aerial photographs, and Survey of India Topographic sheets of Haryana, Rajasthan, and some part of Himalaya mountain region. GIS lab of geography department has 20 computers, with availability of satellite data of IRS, LANDSAT, SRTM, and CARTOSAT. Various digital image processing software’s like Q GIS, GRASS GIS, and ILWIS are also made available to train our students. Numerous survey equipments like chain & Tape, plane table and prismatic compasses, etc are also available with us.
For enhancing the technical knowledge & skill and make our students more competent, department is also running the ISRO’s IIRS outreach courses on remote sensing and providing the special classes for NET examination. Being an authorized test practice center (TPC) of National Testing Agency (NTA), we also provide NTA test practice for various examinations like NET, IIT-JEE, and NEET etc. Apart from ‘SHRISHTI’ an annual socio-cultural festival of geography department of RPS Degree College, we put in order frequent field trips, expert lectures and seminar/workshop for geography community.
