“Chemistry is the study of material transformations. Yet knowledge of the rate, or time dependence, of chemical change is of critical importance for the successful synthesis of new materials and for the utilization of the energy generated by a reaction”.—Yuan T. Lee

The Post graduate department of chemistry is one of the most recognized and largest departments of the RPS group of institution with the 20 faculty members. The department started in 2012 with the three year undergraduate course of B.Sc Medical /Non-Medical .Now the department offers B.Sc (Medical/ Nonmedical) , B.Sc (Hons. Chemistry) and M.Sc Chemistry with the specialization in all the three major disciplines Inorganic, Organic, Physical chemistry.

Our mission is to create and sustain an environment for learning, enquiry and generation of new ideas to aid the education of Science graduates.
Special features of the department include: Six well-equipped spacious laboratories fit with the latest equipment. Separate constructed Inorganic, Organic and Physical labs equipped with U.V.- Visible spectrophotometer, Flame photometer, Conductivity meter, pH meter, Refractometer, Potentiometer, Polarimeter, Photo Colorimeter, dipole meter ,digital auto melting point apparatus, Electrical shakers, Heating plates, Vacuum pumps, Ovens, Analytical electrical weighing machines, Thermostat and projector for post graduate classes on different floors. The department has departmental library with latest edition of reference books. Department also arranges seminars and extension lectures by renowned scholars and scientist of national and international repute and visit to various educational trips.
All the faculty members of the department are NET qualified, most of them are Ph.D. from IITs, Central Universities or State universities with varied experience in academics and industry. Most of the faculty members are approved from the university. They are engaged in various research activities on Basic, Applied and Green Chemistry.
The pedagogical philosophy of the department is very simple “the best way to learn Chemistry is to do Chemistry”. The preparation of future professionals requires learning and application of knowledge gained through laboratory work. The curriculum emphasizes the scientific method, chemical inquiry, critical thinking, data acquisition and evaluation and effective communication.
